Who works in Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills is its own small city, surrounded by Los Angeles, and its office market is unusually concentrated. Talent agencies, media firms, banks and wealth managers, law firms and medical offices fill the buildings along Wilshire Boulevard and in the Business Triangle, the blocks between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards that include Rodeo Drive. Many are small firms with very valuable clients.
That mix shapes the risks. Attackers go where money moves and where private information about well-known people sits: wire instructions for a real estate closing, a client's financial statements, a public figure's medical file, a deal that hasn't been announced. Firms here rarely need more tools. They need fewer gaps: every account behind multi-factor sign-in, email screened for fraud, and access limited to the people who need it.
Ransomware, and what recovery really takes
Ransomware is the attack that stops a small office cold. Files and servers are locked, the attackers demand payment, and often they threaten to publish what they took. As R. Yadegar of Beverly Hills put it in the review below, after a ransomware attack GlobeVM recovered all their data in hours.
Recovery that fast only happens when it was set up before the attack: backups that are tested by restoring them, at least one copy that is offline or can't be changed so ransomware can't reach it, and a written ransomware response plan so nobody improvises. Threat detection and response that watches around the clock can stop an attack before it spreads.
Real estate, wealth management and wire fraud
Luxury real estate brokers, escrow firms, business managers and wealth advisors work throughout Beverly Hills, and many move large sums by wire. The most common attack on them isn't a break-in. It's an email that looks like it came from a client, a title company or a partner, asking to change payment details. Once the money is sent, it can be very hard to get back.
Email security that flags lookalike domains and spoofed senders, multi-factor sign-in on every mailbox, alerts on suspicious forwarding rules, and a firm rule to confirm any change by phone stop most of these attempts. Financial firms also need the written program the FTC Safeguards Rule requires, and SEC-registered advisers have their own rules. Our free lookalike domain check shows which fake versions of your domain already exist.
Medical and specialty practices
The east side of Beverly Hills sits next to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, just across the line in Los Angeles, and medical buildings across the city hold cosmetic, dermatology, dental and other specialty practices. Their patients often include public figures, which raises the stakes: a leaked record is a HIPAA breach and possibly a news story.
We set up HIPAA compliance safeguards: a current risk analysis, access that is logged and reviewed, encrypted devices, secure patient messaging and tested backups of imaging and records. See IT for healthcare practices and dental offices.
Century City next door
Just west of Beverly Hills, inside the City of Los Angeles, Century City's towers along Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East hold large and mid-size law firms, talent agencies such as CAA, and investment firms. Recent leasing reports show law firms choosing Century City alongside Downtown Los Angeles.
Suites in a tower share risers, and often internet providers, with their neighbors. Clean network separation, documented systems and answers to the security questions in clients' outside counsel guidelines are typical needs. Our page on IT for law firms and our guide to outside counsel guidelines go deeper.
Support in Farsi, and getting around Wilshire
Iranian Americans have been part of Beverly Hills for decades, and in 2007 the city's rotating mayor's seat went to Jimmy Delshad, the city's first Iranian American mayor. Many Persian-owned firms here would rather plan big technology changes in Farsi. We work in both Farsi and English, and the phone is often answered by the owners themselves, George Mansoor and Nazy Rafaeil.
Wilshire Boulevard is busy, and building the D Line subway extension, with stations at Wilshire/Rodeo and in Century City planned to open in 2027, has meant lane closures along the way. That's one more reason most of our help starts remotely, within minutes. When something needs hands, an engineer comes to you. Firms further west can see our Santa Monica page.
